This two-hour reception offers a fun and intimate setting for new participants to meet with industry rockstars, various members of the SupplySide team, show supporters, as well as other first time participants. Prepare for the upcoming expo days while making some new friends in the industry and grabbing a drink and bite to eat in the RX Boiler Room.

Carilyn Anderson
Carlson Laboratories Inc.

Carlson has been a family-owned and operated company since it started more than 53 years ago. Carlson was founded in 1965 by Susan Carlson, a pharmacist who made it her mission to improve the health of families nationwide by creating science-based nutritional supplements with high-quality ingredients. Today, the next generation of Carlson, President Carilyn Anderson leads the brand. Carilyn holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and has played an instrumental role in business development and product innovations at Carlson. Carlson offers a full product line of more than 200 vitamins, minerals, omega-3s, kid’s products, and other nutritional supplements. Carilyn is on the board of directors at the Natural Products Foundation (NPF) and is a member of the Global Organization for EPA and DHA (GOED).

Aaron Bartz

Aaron Bartz is President at Ortho Molecular Products, Inc. Since joining Ortho Molecular Products, he has been involved in every aspect of the organization. From 1993 to 2000, he served as a sales account executive and built the Chicagoland territory. In 2000, he took on the role of Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he used his passion for sales to build a thriving, knowledgeable salesforce, which remains a defining feature of Ortho Molecular Products industry-wide. Under Aaron’s leadership since 2007, Ortho Molecular Products has sustained consistently high growth, expanded internationally and developed unique lifestyle medicine programs while becoming one of the largest and most respected organizations serving the practitioner channel. Aaron strongly believes team members are the company’s greatest asset, and has built a culture of health and wellness at every level. Mark Blumenthal
ABC (American Botanical Council)

Mark Blumenthal is the founder and executive director of the American Botanical Council (ABC), a leading independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to disseminating accurate, reliable and responsible information on herbs and medicinal plants. He is the editor and publisher of HerbalGram, an international, peer-reviewed quarterly journal. For six years, he was an adjunct associate professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin, college of pharmacy. Mark is the senior editor of the English translation of The Complete German Commission E Monographs–Therapeutic Guide to Herbal Medicines (1998), Herbal Medicine: Expanded Commission E Monographs (2000), The ABC Clinical Guide to Herbs (2003), and co-author of Rational Phytotherapy, 5th edition (2004). He has appeared on more than 400 radio and television shows and has written over 500 articles, reviews and book chapters for many major publications. Mark has been a leader for more rational regulations of herbal and natural product manufacturing, and education on plant-based medicines for over 40 years.

Brinckmann serves as ‘Research Fellow, Medicinal Plants and Botanical Supply Chain’ for Traditional Medicinals, Inc., a manufacturer of herbal medicinal products. He is an elected member of the United States Pharmacopoeia ‘Botanical Dietary Supplements and Herbal Medicines Expert Committee’ and also serves as an Advisory Board member of the American Botanical Council, Advisory Committee member of the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia, member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission - Medicinal Plant Specialist Group, and member of the Board of Trustees of the FairWild Foundation, a Switzerland-based non-profit standards setting organization for the sustainable wild collection of medicinal and aromatic plants.

Gene Bruno is the provost for Huntington College of Health Sciences and also the chief innovation officer for New Vitality. Bruno has bachelor's and master's degrees in nutrition, as well as a graduate diploma and master's degree in herbal medicine. As a 38-year veteran of the dietary supplement industry, he has formulated natural products for dozens of dietary supplement companies; educated and trained natural product retailers and health care professionals; and written articles on nutrition, herbal medicine, nutraceuticals and integrative health issues for trade, consumer and peer-reviewed publications, as well as authoring books and textbook chapters.

P. K. Davé is the founder and CEO of Nature’s Formulary. In 1993, he developed the first Ayurvedic line designed specifically for the Western population. Davé has more than 24 years of experience in wide-ranging fields, from raw materials to natural retail channel strategy. He has served on numerous industry associations, written many articles in industry trade publications and is often interviewed by the natural products media. Davé has spoken at industry events such as SupplySide and Natural Products Expo, and also travels extensively throughout the United States to conduct seminars on Ayurveda.

Bethany Davis

Bethany Davis is the director of regulatory and industry affairs MegaFood. A member of the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) board of trustees, she also serves as president of the Coalition for Supplement Sustainability, a group of supplement and ingredient companies that united to support a transparent and non-GMO (genetically modified organism) and sustainable supply chain, as well as a member of the Board of Trustees for the American Botanical Council. With a background in pharmaceuticals, Davis was drawn to the natural products industry and is deeply engaged with soil health, sustainability and transparency. She holds a master’s degree in regulatory affairs and health policy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston.

John Doherty
Jamieson Wellness Inc.

John Doherty has been Chief Science and Innovation Officer of Jamieson Wellness since July 2013.  He is responsible for product quality and overseeing products manufactured under the exacting standards of both a Health Canada drug manufacturing license as well as Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration clearance.  In addition, Mr. Doherty is responsible for regulatory matters, consumer affairs, clinical research and innovation.  Prior to Jamieson, Mr. Doherty lead clinical research and innovation at lovate Health Sciences International, an industry pioneer in the U.S. sports nutrition and weight loss sector.  Mr. Doherty holds a Bachelor of Science in Plant Biotechnology from University of Guelph, and is the inventor of a number of dietary supplement patents, relating to both novel claims and applications for natural ingredients, as well as delivery systems technology.
